the fourth day

today was the last day we had to build. today we got the earth magnet. we glued all the washers onto the cardboard circle. then we but all the magnets with south side up. we drilled a hole in to the middle of the cardboard. then we put it on the dowel. we had to super glue the circle 1 mm from the coils. to get it exact we had to adjust the screw.

third day of building

today we work with earth magnets. earth magnets are rather dangerous for the snap back together quickly and with a lot of force. also because they can demagnetise phones computers and credit cards. the first thing we did was cut out two circulars from a piece of cardboard each 12cm in diameter. i glued the two pieces of together with the grain going perpendicular to make the card board stronger. we then hot glued 4 washers onto the cardboard. then we where suppose to place the magnets onto each of the washers but when i was pealing the magnets apart one slipped and to go directly onto the other magnet and i had to go to Ms Lopez to get them separated. went to place the third washer on one of the magnets and its washer jumped up and got my hand when i was separating them one fell and it broke. we where not able to make any further progress with out the magnets.

day 2

to day we coiled wire. we made a jig from cardboard. we folded the card board and then we raped coil wire in four diffrent areas. each of the four coils had to be raped 200 times. this proccess took a long time. on our 3rd coil we had lost count. when we got to the 200th count we realived that our coil was much larger than the other two. we had to unrape and rerape the entire 3rd coil. when we finished raping the 4th coil we had to slip each coil off. when we did this we placed electric tape so that way it didn't uncoil when we where trying to use it. we then taped down all the rest of the copper wire.

savonus wind turbine (day 1)

We have been working on a wind turbine for scene Tuesday. the first thing that we did in order to make this wind turbine was to build a frame. to do this we used a regular block of wood and found the middle. in the middle was where we put a screw. after we put the screw into the plank of wood we made to squares each 8 cm from the center of the plank. we hot glued two 28cm wooden poles in each of the squares. then we made sure each pole was exactly 90 degrees. then we placed braces on 3 sides of the poles. this was to ensure that they would stay up right and that they would stay 90 degrees. then we screwed an eye screw into at 16cm pole. this pole was place on top to of the28cm poles. we used a thin circular pole and sharpened one end with a pencil sharpener. we then placed this pole into the eye screw and our frame was complete. that was all we had time to do that day

vincent schafer

some would clam that a man named Vincent had once fought me and that we where an equal match. when this event accrued we did fight for a large supplement of time but then we got to the radiation faculty. we went in to one of the rooms where he stood. in between the machine and the radiation exporter. i ran to the firring button. and that was that.

nuclear fizzix

i am a nuclear fizzion. its a long story. involving super powers. but as a super hero i had to be able to edit D.N.A. to do this you have to use nuclear radiation. it is ungodly dangerous. well when i got my super powers i had to track down camp of bandits (evil super heroes) to take the power of another super heroes you have you blast them with a machine much like a x ray machine except it kills you when its done and it makes the powers blast on to a board where it is then collected and placed into a ville heroes can drink it. no one else can. it is highly radio active. yet super heroes have radiation that is inside them an they become immune to radiation allowing them to drink the highly toxic liquid. well even being exposed to the machine is dangerous. they can only have super heroes do it. the only way to make sure they dead blast them with t he machine. i learned how to use the machine by a woman named dr. lopaz

windmillblades

Windmill blades

The variables that we tested where number of blades length of the blades the speed of the wind, shape of the blade angle of the blades where made from.

What we learned from this what would make the blade spin the fastest. I learned that what the blade was made from had the largest effect upon the rotating speed witch effect would spin the turbine generator the fastest creating the most amount electricity witch is the goal of our wind turbine.

We found that with the number of blades having two blades worked the best in terms of number of blades. I believe this happened because It didn’t weigh it down causing it to spin faster make the generator produce more electricity. The shortest blades worked best when it came down to the size of the blades. I believe that it was for the same reason as the 2 blades worked best. They had little weight. In terms of wind speed high speed worked the best. The blades had surface areas and the wind pushed the surface area and the force made it move. I predicted that that was what was going to happen. I believed that it would be square blades yet it wasn’t it was notched blades. I didn’t look as if it was something that would spin fast yet it was. I have no expiation for this. When it comes to angle 45 degrees was the best apposed to 90 degrees and 0 degrees. 90 degrees I believe this is accurate information because 90 degrees has no angle to turn so it has no particular way to turn. 0 degree has no surface area to the wind so it receives no power. Styrofoam was blades work the best in terms of what it was made from. I believe this happed because it could have a large surface area with out producing a large amount of weight.

The process of this experiment was rather simple. We set up six stations and divided our selves into six groups. We hooked up the blades to a generator that was wired down to an electric current tester. We power the blades with a fan. Read the amount of electricity that it was producing then swapped out the blades for the other kind in that section then we went to the next station and did this again.

The purpose of this experiment was to know how to design our wind turbine blades also if we need this information in a totally unrelated to school event or if we become engeiners or wind mill blade designers.

If we where to do this again I would change several things. I would make sure all blades where angled right every time, that the fan is in the same position the whole time and that the fan remains intact the interne time.

What I would have done in forger to make a perfect blade I would make a strofoam, rather short, notched with 2 blades at a 45 degree angle with full wind speed.
